Simplified Building Energy Model
A Simplified Building Energy Model (SBEM) is required for all new commercial, industrial, and retail buildings. The calculation measures the energy consumption and carbon emissions of newly built commercial and non-residential buildings.
When is an SBEM calculation required?
An SBEM calculation is required for all new commercial, industrial, and retail buildings to assess the energy performance of newly built non-residential developments.
How does SBEM work?
The SBEM assessment is carried out in two stages: the first at the detailed design stage and the second when the building is complete.
Once construction is finished, a certificate is produced by a qualified and accredited company such as Bullock Consulting to demonstrate compliance with Building Regulations (Part L).
How does Bullock Consulting use SBEM?
Our engineers have extensive knowledge and experience of completing SBEM calculations across a wide range of building types, from shops and offices to schools and leisure centres.
