SAP

Standard Assessment Procedure

The Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) is a methodology for assessing and comparing the energy and environmental performance of dwellings. A SAP assessment is required on all new houses & conversions and some extensions to ensure a dwelling is compliant with Part L1A & L1B of Building Regulations.

The SAP assessment comprises of two stages; design stage and post construction stage. On completion of the build an EPC is produced, this is required for the building to be signed off by building control and for marketing the property for sale or rental, it is valid for 10 years.

Bullock Consulting has experience of completing SAP calculations across the full range of housing types from Housing association schemes to luxury detached dwellings.

SAP is used by the Code for Sustainable Homes Assessor to access credits in Category 1: Energy and Carbon Dioxide Emissions. Over 20% of Code for Sustainable Homes credits can be gained from SAP. At Bullock Consulting the SAP and Code Assessor's work together to deliver the optimum solution for compliance for the client.
