A Simplified Building Energy Model (SBEM) is required for all new commercial, industrial and retail buildings. The calculation measures the energy consumption and carbon emissions of newly built commercial and non-residential buildings.
The SBEM is performed in two stages; the first at the detailed design stage and the second when the building is finished. Once the building has been built a certificate is produced, by a qualified and accredited company such as Bullock Consulting, in order to demonstrate compliance with Building Regulations (Part L).
